Hit Rail B.V. is a private company with limited liability and is owned by 12 European railway related undertakings. Although the original mission statement of Hit Rail B.V. is to provide secure Hermes VPN network connectivity services to the railway community, a new strategy for interoperability was developed as a result of input from the existing customers and the new needs of the railway market with particular emphasis on moving up the value chain beyond its existing Hermes VPN service in order to help the railways with the migration to TSI standards for freight, passenger and infrastructure domains. This is the fundamental logic of Hit Rail’s new HEROS platform.
